When a local landlord of a large warehouse in Braintree, Essex, found his long-term tenant, a manufacturer of bespoke furniture entered liquidation, the landlord was left with a warehouse full of used equipment and the manufacturers stock
With the contents of the upstairs area having been removed and left outside the main warehouse, the waste needed to be cleared quickly and efficiently to ensure the property could be re-let and did not cause any environmental impact. This was important because the landlord is ultimately responsible for their tenants' environmental compliance.
The landlord found Dunmow Waste Management through Google and our Business Manager met with him to talk through some options of how could help remove the waste.
The size of the site was approximately one acre of land, so the proposal we discussed with the landlord was a two-stage process:
Our proposal was competitive and thorough, so the contract was awarded to Dunmow Waste to carry out Stage 1 of the waste clearance.With the objective of recycling as much of the waste as possible, we inspected all waste removed from the site and processed it at our transfer station, located in Chelmsford, Essex.
Due to the size of the site and the large quantity of waste to remove, a Liebherr 906 Tracked Excavator was brought in to work with the Roll-On / Roll-Off Skips to support the effective removal of the waste throughout the whole process. A total of twenty-six, 40-Yard Roll-On / Roll-Off Skips were used to remove the wood, plastics and metal from the site and taken to our recycling centre in Chelmsford, Essex, for sorting and processing in preparation for recycling.
The waste clearance team from Dunmow Waste Management cleared the site in 5 days and was left ready to re-let. After processing the waste at our waste transfer station in Essex, over 90% of the material was recycled and diverted from landfill.
